How acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine help your health?

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine have been practiced in China  for thousands of years. They have the evidence to improve the blood circulation, normalize the body function. detoxify the metabolic waste, improve the immune function, and balance the hormone system. They work on treat both the body and mind to increase the energy, promote mental peace, and restore the balance of the whole body system. 

What is acupuncture? 

Typically, acupuncture sticks hair-thin needles into the a specific acupoints to improve the Qi and blood  along the meridians throughout the body. By doing this, it restores the balance, promotes natural healing, and promotes the immunity Qi in the body.

Is acupuncture painful? I am afraid of needles.

Patients may report the sensation of Qi flow in the local area or toward the distal areas. Sometimes, patients may report sensation of mosquito sting or soreness for seconds during the needling process, but most of the time, they report no pain at all.

What is tuina?

Tuina is a specific technique of traditional Chinese massage that applies pressure along the acupoints and meridians. It treats the dysfunction of internal organs and pain by improving the Qi and blood flow along the meridian pathways. 

What is cupping and Gua-sha/scraping?

Cupping and scraping use a specific tool to improve the blood circulation and regulate the related meridian Qi. It may leave minor bruise on the skin, which will usually disappear later. Cupping/scraping is mostly used for pain conditions, but it is also used to treat multiple internal health conditions such as insomnia, digestive issues, menstrual cramps, and skin issues. 

What are Tai Chi/Qi Gong?

Tai Chi/Qi Gong are popular traditional Chinese exercises. It can increase the cardiopulmonary function, improve balance, increase the muscle strength and flexibility. Tai Chi/Qi Gong also creates peaceful mind and boosts mental health. 

What are herbs?

Ancient Chinese clinicians discovered hundreds of herbs that have the therapeutic effects on the body from the nature. The effects of herbs depend on the ingredients. Herbs help to tonify the deficiency, drain the excess, improve blood circulation, calm the spirit, and restore the balance between Yin/Yang, Qi/Blood. 

What is moxa therapy?

Moxa uses the heat from burned mugwort leaves to treat Cold conditions. Moxa is good at treat Yang deficiency or internal cold conditions, which have the symptoms such as aversion to cold, cold hands/feet, or conditions worsened in winter or cold environment. Moxa is also good at improving blood circulation and promote difficult skin healing. 

What are the rates of service?

Typically one visit will cost $80 - $150, depending on the services and duration. We also provide senior/student/disability discount. Welcome to call/visit our office for detailed information. 

Can I use my insurance card? 

Good news! We are in-network provider of Commercial plan of United Healthcare, and we are in process of joining other insurance network.  If you want to use your insurance card, please call your insurance company about the policy of acupuncture service and call 614-360-6393 to confirm that we carry your insurance plan. Please bring your insurance card and ID when you come for your appointment.
